Cord Mosquito

Why is there so much static with my blu-ray experience?

Okay, I am almost positive it isn't anything to do with blu-ray, but it might be so I won't rule it out.

I have a ps3, but my tv is a few years old and it only has a DVI input, it is 1080i. Since the ps3's hd out is hdmi, i bought a HDMI to DVI cord.

I bought 300 on blu-ray, and I have noticed ALOT of noise on solid colours such as bright blues and greys, and also skin colours/ oranges.

Does anyone know what could be causing this? it is pretty distracting for me because I am always trying to prove blu-ray to everyone, but this static noise digital mosquito stuff makes all the great scenes in HD look less great.

The first suspect is your actual cord, and then the connection. Consider interference from other devices nearby. How long is your DVI-HDMI cable? Was it a "fancy" brand? I rarely buy into the hype about super expensive cables, except when there is an issue like this. If you can't find a great hdmi-dvi cable, then get a great HDMI cable and then use a gold plated connector.
One more thing, look into HDMI 1.1, 1.2, and 1.3 compatibility issues. Send me your TV model, and all facts about your cable for more help.
